Comments from Current beginners
"The class is small and friendly, only about 8 or 10 of us and we play with different people (and robots) each week."
"Tim oversees everything and keeps an eye on each table giving occasional hints as appropriate.”
" It's wonderful to be able to revisit lessons”
“Each week we get notes and the chance to replay the hands. All great fun.”
“Bridge is a great pastime to meet people of all ages.“
The Play and Learn play every week at 10.30 but fortnightly, in the winter, there is a tutorial at 10.00. This group meets on Fridays all year, except for Christmas, Easter and sometimes the October school holidays. At the end of play we have a zoom session where Tim goes over the bidding and the play and members ask questions or discuss their thoughts on the hands.
We use a platform called RealBridge for the Play and Learn which permits you to see and talk to others at the table.
What the students say
“I find the sessions interesting, helpful and fun. What's not to like? Thoroughly enjoyable.”
“U3A Bridge Online across Scotland offers a fantastic opportunity to either learn to play bridge or, with the Play and Learn option, to improve your play and learn new skills. The fortnightly lessons with selected hands to play afterwards, are really helpful and the after-play talk on how the hands should have been played is really useful”.
“Now playing with the Play and Learn Group I am discovering how much complex the game can be.”
“The lessons are well planned, and the learning points clearly put over.”
“The other members in the group are very friendly, supportive rather than judgemental. This is what makes playing with them so enjoyable.”
