We are a very friendly and informal bunch of about 9 members of varying degrees of artistic ability, from beginners to the very experienced.

We do not have a teacher, but focus on learning from teach yourself books or by copying nature, or drawing or painting based on our own imagination.

We usually start the meeting by going round the room so that anyone who wants to can talk about what they have been doing, along with any hints or tips that they are willing to share with the group.

We have recently introduced a “10-minute history of art” slot, which everyone seems to be enjoying and has opened out eyes to not only famous artists but also some artists that most of us have never before heard of.

Beginners – Although our group has no teacher, we have enough experienced members to help a beginner get started. However, this is primarily a “teach yourself group”.

All new members – If you have any drawing or watercolour materials, please bring them with you, as material are not provided. However, all you need to get started is a pencil and a few sheets of copy paper from e.g. your printer.

(Please note – Acrylic paint, bottles of ink, or any medium that could permanently stain a carpet are NOT allowed.)

Venue -We meet in the Culloden/Balloch Baptist Church, Wellside Road, Inverness. This is a new/modern church with free, easy and ample parking right outside the door. Both the car park and the church are all on the level so very easy access. The church is always warm and has loads of natural light and is in every way a great venue. There is a good bus service from Inverness City centre direct to the end of Wellside Road, with the bus stop in very easy walking distance to the Church.
